The Project

Electromagnetic Battle Management (EMBM) will provide users with situational understanding of the civilian, AUS government, AUS military, partners and foreign national electromagnetic spectrum (EMS) use. It will provide the warfighter with the knowledge and tools necessary to make appropriate decisions about EMS use.

The project strives to lean forward and redefine the ADF’s electromagnetic edge in a highly complex EMS problem space that seeks to provide the user with a rapid understanding of the highly contested, congested, and conflicting EMS that impacts all domains and Services.

Sigma Bravo is currently looking for a highly motivated Business Analyst to join a multi-partnered agile project team for the development of an Electromagnetic Battle Management System in support of Defence. The Electromagnetic Battle Management System supports the conduct of operations through the provision of data, modelling, visualisations and decision support tools for the electromagnetic environment. This includes a consolidated view of capabilities and threats across the Joint Force and in use within the operational area.

The Role

As the Business Analyst your responsibilities will include:

  • Review user business needs and work with the systems engineering team to ensure business requirements are accurately represented throughout agile delivery.
  • Coordinate and develop the business processes with the user that represent application use.
  • Support end-to-end business testing and reviews, and other process verification activities.
  • Work closely with the end user to ensure accurate representation of their needs throughout definition, development and test.
  • Alignment, development and review of relating doctrine and policies related to EMBM.
  • Develop and update user operational processes and procedures.
  • Development and update of project delivery framework processes.
  • Development and update of support personnel procedures and processes tailored from Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL); and ISO 20000 IT Service Management standard to ensure consistent operational functionality and outcomes.
  • Identifying and managing risks and issues in relation to business architecture, policy and processes.
  • Planning and estimating of process, policy, documentation and business analyst activities and contributing to schedule development and monitoring.

Due to the nature of Sigma Bravo's work, all applicants must have the ability to obtain a minimum of NV1 Security Clearance (usually only granted to Australian Citizens).

To be successful in this role you will need the following essential skills/experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in Project Management, Quality Management, Engineering or suitable equivalent.
  • Experience developing Defence doctrine, policy, processes and procedures.
  • Ability to consult with SME’s and convert information into documented processes and procedures.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise tasks and workflow.
  • Ability to review and recommend improvements to procedures and systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the Quality Standard 9001.
  • [Desired] Development experience using Agile methods (Scrum).
  • [Desired] Knowledge of Military Environment and Chain of Command.
  • [Desired] Knowledge of the Joint Military Appreciation Process.
  • [Desired] Knowledge of the EMS Joint Doctrine.
  • [Desired] Knowledge of business architecture.
  • [Desired] Personal qualities including:
  • attention to detail
  • ability to take the point of the view of the customer

  • an ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical people
